Bazı İngilizce Kur`an meallerinin deyim çevirisi açısından değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Metin çevirisinde deyimler önemli bir yer tutmaktadır. Bu önem, deyimlerin taşıdığı mecazi anlamdan kaynaklanmaktadır. Bu mecazi anlamlar, kültürden kültüre değişir ve her kültürde farklı şekillerde ifade edilir. Çevirmenin hangi ifadenin deyim olduğunu ve bu deyimi hedef dile nasıl çevireceğini bilmesi önem taşımaktadır. Çünkü deyimlerin anlamları bu deyimleri oluşturan kelimelerin gerçek anlamlarından farklıdır. Çevirmen, Allah'ın Kitabı olan Kur'an-ı Kerim'i çeviriyorsa bu durumda deyimlerin çevirisi daha da önemli hale gelmektedir. Biz bu çalışmamızda, Kur'an'da geçen 48 deyimin 7 İngilizce Kur'an mealindeki çevirisini inceledik. İngilizce Kur'an okuyanlar açısından önemli olduğunu düşündüğümüz bu çalışmada bu deyimlerin nasıl çevrilmesi gerektiğini bazı tefsir ve sözlüklerdeki açıklamalardan da yola çıkarak ifade ettik.Anahtar Kelimeler: Kur'an, deyim, deyimsel ifade, İngilizce Kur'an meali, çeviri,mecaz.

Idioms occupy an important place in text translation. This is just because they have metaphorical meanings. These metaphorical meanings differ from one culture to another and they are expressed in different ways in each culture. It is very important for a translator to know which expression is an idiom and how to translate an idiom into target language. This is just because idioms have different meanings rather than the meaning of the words that make up them. If the translator translates the Glorious Qur'an, the book of Allah, in this case, the translation of the idioms becomes so important. In this study, we have analysed the translation in seven English translations of the Quran of forty-eight idioms. In this study that we think it is important for those who read English translations of the Qur'an, we have explained how idioms are supposed to be translated on the basis of the explanations in some tafseer (interpretation) books and dictionaries.Key Words: Qur'an, idiom, idiomatic expression, English translation of the Qur'an,translation, metaphor
