Abstract
Anahtar Kelimeler: Erzurum, Kars, Maden, Metal, Silah The collections of metallic works in the museums of Erzurum and Kars, two prominent cities of the plate called North-eastern Anatolia Region are the most significant indications how the archeo-metallurgical background of the district has potentially wealthy. In this study, the metallic weapons chronologically from Late Chalcolithic-Early Bronze Age to Middle Iron Age in both museums are examined. The weapons are divided into five major forms as dagger, dirk, spearhead, axe and barb; these forms into subcategories with regard to the differences in themselves. Being examined through two distinct methodologies as typological and metallurgical, the works are compared with the samples in the adjacent zones typologically and technologically, and the convenience to the technical substructure of the periods to which they belong is evaluated. The research demonstrates that the weapons were made in the same typological forms in a convenient way to the technology of the periods which they belong to and by using alloy techniques almost evenly with its contemporary civilizations. As a result, it is understood that these weapons are the groups which are uncomplicated and convenient to the developmental process of the regional culture and whereas they are unfamiliar group. Further, it is established that the weapons the majority of which is from the group of grave gifts-prestige goods have the typological features of Eastern Anatolia and even partially South-eastern Anatolia and densely Caucasus and Iran geography.
