Abstract
Yapağı örnekleri her hayvanın omuz, kaburga ve but bölgelerinden 1985 yılı Temmuz kırkımında alınmıştır. 2. Gerçek Kıl Uzunluğu Kıl uzunluk ortalamaları muhtelif yaşlı îvesi 'lerde 17.166 cm, Tunlarda ise 13.441 cm'dir. In the study, as material, the wool samples from a total number of 54 ewes born as single which belong to four different age groups, were used. The wool samples were taken from the shoulder, rib and thigh regions of the sheep at the shearing of 1985» In these samples, staple length, fiber length and diameter, quality number, fiber types, resilience, breaking strength, elasticity and clean fiber percentage were analyzed. For each character the tables were prepared for both genetic groups, bady region, and for age groups. The data were evaluated statistically and each character, with the exeption of body region, was summarized according to its genetic and age groups, as shown below: 1. Staple Length: Avarage staple length in Awassi was 11.997 cm, and in Tuj was 11.033 cm. The staple length for 1,2,3 and 4 years old of Awassi were 13.624 cm, 11.045 cm, 11.791 cm and 11.527 cm, respectively. In Tu«j, according to the same age groups, staple length, were found as 9-936 cm, 10.274 cm, 11.487 cm and 12.437 cm. Distribution of staple length acaording to the ages differed between genetic groups. For this reason, genetic x age interaction was found highly significant (p<0.01). The age groups caused a significant (p<^0.05; variation. 2. Fiber Length: The mean values of the fiber length for various ages of Awassi and Tuj were 17.166 cm and 13.441 cm, respectively. Avarage fiber length for 1,2,3 and 4 years old of Awassi were found as 18.792 cm, 16.738 cm, 17.257 cm, 15.876 cm; in Tuj, according to the same age groups were 11.891 cm, 13.131 cm, 15.520 cm, and 13.224 cm respectively. The statistical analysis of this character indicated that genotype and genotype x age interaction were highly significant (p< 0.01). Ages caused a significant (p^O.05) variation. The statistical analysis of this character indicated that genotype and genotype x age interaction were highly significant (p< 0.01). Ages caused a significant (p^O.05) variation.- 104 - 3. Fineness: Avarage fiber diameter, as micron, determined by method of microprojection was 31.864 in Awassi, and 32.34-0 in Tuj, recpectively. This character, for 1,2,3 and 4 years old of Awassi were found 30.736 micron, 32.987 micron, 32.151 micron, 31.581 micron, respectively. The mean fiber diameter, in the same age groups, for Tu;j, were, as micron, 28.488, 31.247, 33.250 and 36.374. The fiber distribution, in the various of age groups for Awassi was found between 10 micron and 150 micron, and also for Tuj, were determined between 10-166 micron, The fiber diameter increased up to 110 micro for 1 and 2 years old. of Awassi; and 118 micron for 3 years old ones, and 150 micron in the 4 age of group. The fineness increased up to 108 micron, 120 micron, 140 micron and 166 micron for 1,2,3 and 4 years old of TuJ. While the fiber diameter mesaured by microprojection method, the percentage of medullation were determined, simultaneously too, as % 4.18 for Awassi, as % 3.29 for Tuj. The medullation percentage for 1,2,3 and 4 years old of Awassi were % 3.20, % 4.40, % 4.61 and % 5.95 and for Tuj, according to the same age groups, were % 3.01, %> 1.80, yb 2.24 and % 4.80, respectively. From the result of variance analysis, it hasbeen seen that the differences of avarage fiber diameters of different age, body region, and for genotype x age interaction weri highly significant (p<0.01). 4a Quality Number: The quality number for both Awassi and Tuj when the fiber diameter taken in cansideration according to ASTM (1969) were determined as 48'S. This wool character, mentioned above, were found to be 50' S for one year old of Awassi, 46' S for two years old of Awassi and 48* S for 3 and 4 years old of Awassi. For 1.2.3 and 4 years old of Tuj, the quality number were 54' S, 48'S, 46' S and 40' S, respectively. Quality grades based upon the u-erman system which prepared by (i.Elbe and reveiwed by W.Sp.ottel (Batu et. al., 1962) were `D` for both genotype groups. When the age groups were taken in consideration, the quality grades were determined as `C` for 1 and 2 years old of Awassi, and `D` for 3 and 4 years old of- 105 - ones. The same wool character was found as MC` for 1 year old of Tuj and `D` for other age groups of Tug. 5.
