Abstract
156 SUMMARY Under the name of `Orthography of the Western Words entered in Turkish language` the different phonetic of the Western Words entered in Turkish language have been enlightened. The summary of the topic has given- blow. In the section of `Enterence of Western Words in Turkish language and the evaluation of the sourcess` Namık Kemal, Ahmet Mithat and Şemseddin Sami who are the base of alphabetic revolution of 1928 of Turkey have been discussed, their thoughts have been observed, their some quotations related to Western Words have been taken. These quotations have given us guide-line to analyse these words according to the phonetic of these days. On the same time, the main sources of this research are îmlâ LOgati (1928), (Orthography Dictionary 1928) İmlâ Kılavuzları, (Orthography Guide) Türkçe Sözlükler (Turkish Dictionaries), Cumhuriyet newspaper (1930) Hakimiyet-i Milliye newspaper (1931) etc. have been searched thoroghly and examples have been given from these sources. In the section of `Western Words entered in Turkish language, analysis under the phonetic rules` the effect of the time on the phonetic of Vne words have been shown separately (such as a^e, oXu, s^z, ç ^j ş etc) there examples have been given in to the form of tables. In this thesis main topic is the different phonetic of the Western Words entered in Turkish language. All the Western Words related to my topic have been given in the form of list in a table. These words have been drawn from îmlâ Lügati (1928), Cumhuriyet newspaper (1930), Ha kimiyet-i Milliye newspaper (1931), Türkçe Sözlük (1943), Türkçe Sözlük (1983), Türkçe Sözlük (1988) the words have been compared with each other. These have been shown alphabetically in the index I (Dizin I). In index II (Dizin II) the date and the pages of tiie two men tioned newspapers have been given in alphabet order. In the conclusion section we have given our own point of view on `the orthography of Western Words entered in Turkish language` and have mentioned here, how the Western Words started to take place in Turkish language and how the attempts were made to find original Turkish - words against these Western Words. At the end of this section it has mentioned that the spelling problem of the Western Words entered in Turkish language has not yet solved properly.
