Abstract
SUMMARY The aim of this study is to measure and differentiate the concepts of organizational commitment, value commitment, continuance commitment and calculative commitment of public sector employees in Türkiye. In order to be able to differentiate these concepts, their relationships with professional commitment, personal variables, perceptions for workplace and work experience are studied. As a result, redefinition of some commitment concepts is proposed. The study has been conducted in 21 public sector organizations. The model used in the study includes professional commitment; sex, marital status, age and education level as personal variables; job involvement values, work stress, relationships with colleagues and superiors, comparison of organization's status with status of profession, social benefits and time period between the decision and implementation of quitting as perceptions for workplace; the number and years of employment in organizations previously worked, the reasons for leaving the previously worked organizations, the position's place in the hierarchy, years of employment and reasons for staying within the current organization and potential reasons for leaving the current organization as work experience variables. 156
