Abstract
The district (sancak) of the 16th centruy Bolu that containing the regions of the larg parts of northwestern Anatolia (that is Bolu, Zonguldak and Bartın) has been turkified by the first conquests at the early era. Cobanogul Ian and Candarogullan principalities have ruled the same region after the collapse of Anatolian Saljuaids. The region which has been ruled by the Ottoman State after its enlargement and has been made an independent district. The district of the 16th century has reached its borders at the age of Fatih. Tahrirs are census that is made in order to confirm the changes which occurs time by time, sultan accession and the new conquers like various reasons. The thesis has been prepared as introduction and four parts by based on the 16th century tahrir defters (tax registers) of Bolu district. Sources of the thesis has been introduced as detailed. Then, the history of the region has been summarised briefly from the beginning to the 16th century. Finally, district geography has been introduced. At first part, the administrative structure of the 16th century district has been pointed out both kazaî and tımar organizations. Morever, has, zeamet and timars have been confirmed and then the results have been measured. At the second part settling of the district has been examined.
