Abstract

133 ÖZET Bu çalışma, Hürriyet ve İtilaf Fırkası ile İttihat ve Terakki Fırkası'nm Kasım 1911-Ocak 1913 tarihleri arasında gerçekleştirdiği siyasal mücadeleyi konu almaktadır. Genel anlamda bu iki parti arasındaki mücadeleyi incelemesinin yanında özel olarak da bu iki partinin tarihsel gelişimlerini ayrı bölümler halinde incelemektedir. Kendisine yönelik her türlü muhalefeti sindirmeye kararlı İttihat ve Terakki Fırkası'nm karşısında, 21 Kasım'da kurulan, 20 gün sonra yapılan bir ara seçimi kazanan ve hemen hemen bütün İttihat ve Terakki muhaliflerini bünyesinde toplayan Hürriyet ve İtilaf Fırkasının siyasal mücadelesinin hayli önemli olduğunun altını çizmektedir. Hürriyet ve İtilaf Fırkası dönemin en büyük muhalefet fırkası olarak İttihat ve Terakki Fırkası'na karşı sert bir muhalefet hareketi başlatmış, İttihat ve Terakki Fırkası da bu muhalefet hareketini ortadan kaldırabilmek için yoğun çaba sarf etmiştir. Bu tez, işte bu mücadeleyi anlatma amacındadır.

134 SUMMARY This thesis scrutinizes the political experience of Turkey November 1911 to January 1913. By and large, the thesis intends to elucidate the political struggle between `the Committee of Union and Progress` and `the Party of Liberty and Entente.` It further introduces an analysis into the historical development of both parties as well as the theme of their political struggles. In brief, the thesis interprets both parties' opposing political experiences. On the one side existed the Committee of Union and Progress, whose primary concern was to `oppress` all opposition available. On the other side appeared the Party of Liberty and Entente, which succeeded in comprising all groups in opposition to the Committee of Union and Progress soon after its establishment on November 21, 1911 and its local electoral success in Istanbul twenty days later. Once the Party of Liberty and Entente strongly opposed to the Committee of Union and Progress, the Committee of Union and Progress directed its focus and full force to rival's demise. This thesis particularly illuminates the history of this particular struggle.
