İslâm tarihçiliğinde Meşahiru`n-Nisa geleneği ve Mehmed Zihni Efendi`nin Meşahiru`n-Nisa adlı eserinin incelenmesi

Abstract

?İslâm Tarihçiliğinde Meşâhûru'n-Nisâ Geleneği ve Mehmed Zihni Efendi'ninMeşâhûru'n-Nisâ Adlı Eserinin ncelenmesi? konulu bu çalışmada slâm tarihçiliğindekadınları tanıtan tabakât yazıcılığı, Zihni Efendi'nin Meşâhûru'n-Nisâ adlı eseri esasalınarak ?meşâhûru'n-nisâ? olarak kavramlaştırılmış ve bu gelenekte kadınlara yer verentabakât kitaplarının bir kısmı incelenerek kadınlara nitelik ve nicelik olarak hangiyoğunlukta yer verildiği saptanmaya çalışılmıştır.Meşâhûru'n-Nisâ'yı kendisinden önceki tabakât kitaplarından ayıran en önemli farkyazılış amacıdır. Eser müellif tarafından dönemin Maarif Nezâreti'nin isteği üzerineDârulmuallimât'ta kız öğrencilere okutulmak üzere kaleme alınmıştır. Zihni Efendi,eserinde ?örnek müslüman kadın profili? çizmiştir. Bu genel çerçevede üç amaçgerçekleştirilmeye çalışılmıştır. Farklı sanatsal, sosyal, ilmû ve meslekû sahalarda temâyüzetmiş hanımlar cinsel kimlikleriyle değil yaptıklarıyla ön plâna çıkartılarak kız öğrencilereörnek olarak sunulmuştur. Diğer taraftan kadının ahlâkû yönüne önem verilmiş ve farklıyönleriyle tanıtılan pek çok güzel ahlâklı hanım örnek alınacak güzûde şahsiyetler olaraktanıtılmıştır. Bu konuda özellikle ?iyi eş? ve ?iyi anne? olmaya ağırlık verilmiştir. Sonolarak da eserde yeri geldikçe tarih, din, sanat, edebiyat gibi değişik alanlardabilgilendirme maksadı güdülmüştür.Meşâhûru'n-Nisâ, evrensel bir dünya görüşüyle yazılmıştır. Eserde zaman, mekân,meslek, milliyet, din ve sosyal statü farkı gözetilmeksizin herhangi bir vasfıyla meşhurolmuş pek çok kadın tanıtılmıştır. Meşâhûru'n-Nisâ, sadece müspet mânâda meşhur olmuşkadınları tanıtan bir eser de değildir. Zihni Efendi, eserinde öğrencilere örnek olsun diyemüspet yönde tanınmış kadınlara; ibret olsun diye de menfû yönde tanınmış olanlara yervermiştir.Bu çalışmada ağırlıklı olarak Meşâhûru'n-Nisâ'da çizilen ?örnek müslüman kadınprofili? üzerinde durulmuştur. Bununla birlikte Meşâhûru'n-Nisâ'dan Zihni Efendi'nindin ve dünya görüşü hakkında bilgi edinmek de mümkündür. Eserde konuyla alâkalı bolmiktarda malzeme mevcuttur.

In this study on ?The Meşahiru?n-Nisa (`Successful Women?) Tradition inIslamic Historiography and the Examination of Mehmed Zihni Efendi?s Work onMeşahiru?n-Nisa,? Mehmed Zihni Efendi?s work has been taken as a basis in theintroduction of women in Islamic historiography that has been conceptualized as?Meşahiru?n-Nisa? in writings on social classes. Within this tradition, a partialexamination has been carried out on books written on social classes to determineon how much emphasis has been given on the ?type and number? of women.The most important difference that separates ?Meşahiru?n-Nisa? fromprevious traditional books on social classes is the reason it was written. The authorwrote his work at the request of `Maarif Nezareti? ( Ministry of Education) to beread to young girl students at `Darulmuallimat?at that time. Zihni Efendiportrayed a ?model Muslim woman profile? in his study. Within this framework,the author tried to realize three aims: Women who have become noted in differentartistic, social, scientific and occupational areas not because of their gender butbecause they provide as an example with what they have done to young girlstudents. On the other hand, the moral side of a woman was given importance andvery many moral women introduced in their various aspects were given as anexample of their eminent personalities. In particular, emphasis was given on beinga ?good wife? and a ?good mother.? Lastly, where appropriate, the work?s aim wasalso to provide information on various subjects such as history, religion, art andliterature.?Meşahiru?n-Nisa? was written from a universal point of view. The workintroduces many successful women regardless of time, place, occupation,nationality or social standing. ?Meşahiru?n Nisa? is not only a work that portraysfamous women based on their positive aspects; Zihni Efendi portrays both well-known women with their positive aspects as an example, as well as women knownwith their negative aspects as a lesson to students.This study focuses mainly on ?the model Muslim women profile? drawn in?Mesahiru?n-Nisa.? At the same time, it is possible to gain knowledge of ZihniEfendi?s views on religion and the world fron the said work. There are quite anumber of materials on this subject in ?Meşahiru?n Nisa?.
