Abstract
iii SUMMARY Biology and Parasitoids of satin moth Leucoma salicis (I.) (Lepidoptera: Lymantriidae) in Erzurum Province (Türkiye). Morphological features of adult, egg, larva and pupa of L. salicis were examined. Biological studies were conducted on Populus alba L in 1992 and 1993 in area of Atatürk University campus. Second and third larval stages of satin moth overwintered in the crevices or under the bark of poplar trees. These hibernated larvae began to appear on 5 July and on 25 May in 1992 and 1993 respectively. Duration of second, third, fourth and fifth larval stages were 12 (11-13), 10 (9-11), 10 (8-12) and 6.5 (5-8) days respectively. The last stage larvae became pupa on leaves, main branches or trunk of the hast plantis after webbing weakly. The pupa stage was completed in 13.25 (12-15) days. Moth started to appear on 28 July 1992 and 21 July 1993. The females deposited eggs on leaves, branches and trunk on first or second day of the emergence from the pupae. A female laid 348 (153-472) eggs in three or rarely two masses covered by a spumilin layer. Hatching period of the eggs were 22.2 (18-27) days. First and second larval stages completed in 24 (23-27) days and 19,5 (19-20) days respectively. The second and third stage larvae started to hibernate on 5 October in 1992 and on 27 September 1993. Parasition rate of Telenomus nitidulus Thomson (Hym.: Scelionidae), egg parasitoid of L. salicis was 8.6 ± 9.7 (0-22.3) percent. Larval parasitoid species are Apanteles sp. Cotesia melonscelus Ratzeburg (Hym.: Braconidae) and Pteromalus sp. (Hym.: Pteromalidae). These species were obtained only from second and third stage overwintered larvae. Compsiluraiv concinnata (Mg.), Exorista rossica Mesnil, E. Segregata (Dip.: Tachinidae), Monodontemerus aereus. Walker (Hym.: Torymidae) and Triiapitzinia leucomae Dzhanokmen (Hym.: Peteromalidae) are pupal parasitoids. Dibrachvs cavus (Walker) and Q^ oarbiae walker (Hym.: Pteromalidae), hyperparasite species, were found on pupae. The tachinid species E. rossica had highly activity in 1993.
