Abstract
JAPANESE TEACHING METHODS Recently because of the gradually progressing econo mic, political and cultural relationship between Turkey and Japan the interest on learning Japanese has developed with a high speed, In Turkey with this intensive interest, Japanese began to be taught by many institutes to every level of Turkish people. But every institute teaches Japanese in a different way. Namely in Turkey there is not any specific teaching method yet. In order to progress teaching in a healthy way and to teach Japanese efficiently, the knowledge of the teaching methods that are used in Japan is necessary and the appropriate teaching method to Turkish educational condition has to be fixed. Scrutinizing the common problems of foreigners who are learning Japanese and fixing the problems that makes Japanese difficult for Turks, are also other aspects of this thesis.The progress and the present condition of Japanese education in the world has to be known in order to fix Turkey's place in this progress. Considering the facts all stated above, in the first section of the thesis, the aim of learning Japanese and the educational tendency both in the world and Turkey has been discussed. In the second section of the thesis a brief information about the teaching methods of Japanese has been given. In the third section, by examining the exams of the Department of the Japanese Language and Literature students of Ankara University, the common problems of Turkish students on the subject on fonetics, vocabulary, grammar and writing have evaluated. In this section, the similarities and the differences between the two languages have also been discussed. In the last section of the thesis the most appropriate method for Turkish students has been discussed and tried to be found out.
