Abstract
SUMMARY An analysis which can be used for different loads and shapes having plane systems, and which also tests either displacement or buckling risk is aimed, considering structual elements as plate elements consisting of plane systems. Considering this point, buckling problem in plates has been investigated for systems made up from isotropic materials within their elastic limits. For this purpose, Finite Element Method which is highly useful and sufficient was choosen, pointing out briefly the methods used for the solution of buckling problems. In this analysis, finite element of rectangular plane stress with a 12 -degree- of freedom was used, investigating Finite Element Method in analysing buckling problems of plates. This model of bar elements divided into finite elements was experienced much more correctly. A computer programme was prepared for this purpose. Results obtained from the computer programme were compared with those obtained from analytical solution and they were found to be correct. A cantilever beam subjected to a pressure load was solved for the various load conditions and also hole conditions using the computer programme, and some parametric investigations were carried out.
