Abstract
p-Menthane 1 and iso-p-menthane 33 which are terpenoids were synthesized in a shOrtand practical path ways by a high yield. For this aim, methyl-ketone 31 which is a keycompound was synthesized with in two steps and a high yield. p-Menthane 1 wasobtained as a single product by adding cyclopropyl to methyl-ketone 31. Withrearrangement of methyl-ketone 31 in acidic media, for the synthesis of iso-p-menthane33 that requires appropriate compound being methyl-ketone 32 was synthesized with aquantitative yield. Addition of cyclopropyl to 32 gave iso-p-menthane 33 as a singleproduct with a high yield. Hydroperoxide ketone 35 obtained by photoxienation of keycompound methyl-ketone 31 was reduced to alchol resulting in keto-alcohol 36compound with a high yield. Moreover, oxidation of methyl-ketone 31 with KMn04gave ketal-ketone 34 in a high yield. Therefore, synthesized two molecules which havesuitable stmctures are key compound for the synthesis ofterpenoid.Keywords: p-Menthane, iso-p-Menthane, Terpenoids, Mono Terpens, GrignardReagents.
