Abstract

Zekeriya AYDIN Bu çalışmada öncelikle, tau fiziği araştırılmış; yan leptonik süreçlerin hesaplamaları yapılmıştır. İki temel özellik, tau parçacığım, Standart Modeli (SM) test etmek için ideal bir laboratuar kılmaktadır. Tau' nun lepton olması yeni fizik anlamına gelmektedir. Ağır olması nedeniyle de, çok sayıda farklı bozunum moduna sahiptir. Hafif leptonlarla yapılmış deneylerdeki hassasiyete göre, tau leptonu ile yapılan deneylerdeki hassasiyet henüz düşüktür; bu nedenle çok sayıda tau - charm üretecek çarpıştmcılar yapılmış ve yapılmaktadır. ABSTRACT Master Thesis SEMI - LEPTONIC PROCESSES INVOLVING TAU LEPTON K. Esin NALÇACI Ankara University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Engineering Physics Supervisor : Prof. Dr. Z. Zekeriya AYDIN In this work, Tau physics is investigated and especially semi leptonic processes are calculated. Two basic properties make the tau particle an ideal laboratory for testing the Standart Model: the tau is a lepton, which means clean physics, and moreover, it is heavy enough to produce a large variety of different decay modes. The present data confirm the Standart Model scenario in which the tau is a sequential lepton, with its own quantum number and associated neutrino. The experimental accuracy is, however, rather poor, in comparision with the high - precision measurements performed with the lighter leptons, and large room for new physics is still allowed. 2004, 56 pages Key Words :Lepton, hadron, decay rate, branching fraction
