Abstract
Abu Bakr al-Bayhaqi (384/994) was born in the village of Husrawjid, a town inBayhaq, Nisabur and died in 458/ 1066 in Nisabur. He was one of the eminent scholarsof Shafiite legal school. He compiled valuable works in various fields. He adopted thethe transmisson method of Traditionists in his works.Islamic scholars compiled works called Dalail al-nubuwwa in order to establishthe prophecy of the prophets in general, and that of our Prophet in particular. The workDalail al-nubuwwa by al-Bayhaqi is one the most significant works in this genre. Hecompiled a short treatise called al-Madkhal ila Dalail al-nubuwwa as an introductory toDalalil al-nubuwwa. In the former, he dealth with the sucjects such as the proof of theprophecy of the prophet Muhammad, the method to be followed in Dalail and thecriticism of the accounts he transmitted by applying the method adopted in hadithmethodology (usul al-hadith). He dealth with the every aspect of the prophecy and lifeof the Prophet Muhammad in detail. He well organized the narrations he maintioned inthe book. He also tansmitted different versions of the narrations and mentioned whetherthese hadiths sound or not.
