Abstract
Engineering various operations are applied for prostheses? and implant?s increase life and ensure biocompatibility. Thermochemical process is one than these process. In this process have big advantages. In general materials are exposed to the wear, corrosion and fatigue. Nitriding process is applied for improve those type effect. In this study, 316L stainless steel alloy, which is one of the materials used to manufacture orthopedic implant devices was nitrided at temperatures between 350ºC and 450ºC in a gas mixture of 50%N2-50%H2 for 2 hours. After than nitriding process the mechanical properties of nitrided specimens were determined with micro indentation measurements, the tribological properties of specimens were investigated by using pin-on-disk tribotester, the corrosion properties of specimens were investigated by using potantiostat/galvanostat device. In addition, XRD and SEM were used to analyze of the structural properties. Magnetic measurements and electrical conductivity of specimens investigation by using PPMS device. As a result it was found that the surface process applied to AISI 316L stainless steel alloy improved the tribological characteristics of the alloy.eywords: 316L stainless steel, biomaterials, With the nitrogen plasma, Magnetic field, Electrical resistivity, Wear.
