Abstract
Her iki sistemde 4 eşdeğer adsorpsiyon kolonundan oluşmaktadır. Two PSA systems, the so-called `Laboratory Scale` and `Industrial Scale` were constructed. Both systems consist of 4 identical adsorption columns. Each column contains 7 kg and 70 kg Zeolite 5A in the laboratory scale and in the industrial scale systems, respectively. A four-step process (i.e., pressurization, removal of the product, pressure equlization and stripping by vacuum) was applied to each column in a cyclic regime. The effects of the `adsorption pressure` and `product removal period` and `period of one cycle` on the production capacity and the product composition were investigated. The production capacity increased by increasing the adsorption pressure, while oxygen content of the product first increased and then decreased after a certain pressure (6 atm for the laboratory scale and 5 atm for the industrial scale). The production capacity increased, but the oxygen content decreased when the period of product removal was increased. When the period of one cycle was increased, the production capacity decreased, while the oxygen content first increased then decreased, in the laboratory scale system. When the period of one cycle was increased, the production capacity decreased while the oxygen content production capacity decreased at the short periods of the product removal, but increased at the long periods of the product removal, in the industrial scale system. The maximum oxygen content achieved in the laboratory scale system was 70% (the production capacity: 2 liters/min), in which the adsorption pressure, product removal period and the period of one cycle were 6 atm, 3 sec and 120 sec. The maximum oxygen content achieved in the industrial scale system was 80% (the production capacity: 87 liters/min), in which the adsorption pressure, product removal period and the period of one cycle were 5 atm, 5 sec and 370 sec.
