Abstract
IV ABSTRACT Studied region covers an area of 20 sq. km. within the 1/25 000 scale (029-d1 and 029-d4 ) maps around the town of Göktepe (Fariske), Sanveliler in the province of Karaman, Turkey. In this study, passage from the Permian into Triassic was investigated. There was a continued sedimentation in the study area which lies on the Hadim Nappe during the Devonian, Carboniferous and. Permian periods. Hortubeleni Formation is rich in algae (especially Gymnocodiaceae and Dasycladaceae) and foraminifera, but in the upper levels of this formation are poor in fusulinids. The carbonate sequence with rich flora and fauna are succeeded by series, barren of fossils at the end of the Permian and begining of the Triassic times. In fact, the base of the Göktepe Formation of the Triassic age is represented by the oolitic shallow marine limestones, passing into green and red colored marls marked by ammonites. The presence of the Pentacrinus sp. bearing a thin transgresive, conglomeratic level of Jurassic age (Rhetian and younger) over the Lower Triassic, pointed out that the Middle and Upper Triassic sequences were probably eroded. Micropaleontologically, 25 foraminiferal, 8 algal genera were determined and 27 foraminifera, 11 algae species were defined ( 3 of them are new species). Among these, 26 foraminiferal and 8 algal species were systematically described. New forms of Pentastipulina and Tristipulina and species of Pentastipulina kuzuhogesiensis and Tristipulina hadimensis were also defined for the first time. Macropaleontologically, an ammonite (Trolites sp.), gastropods (Naticella acutecostata, Turbo reserostatus) and a pelecipod (Gervillieia sp.) were described. Biostratigraphically, Gymnocodium hortubelensis-Rectostipulina quadrata-Pentastipulina kuzubogesiensis biozones and Paraglobivalvulina- Tristipulina-Gymnocodium baysalbatmani and Louisettita elegantissima- Reichelina-Mizzia velebitana sub-biozones were proposed and correlated with those on the Gondwania.
