1980 Sonrası dönemde Türkiye`de enflasyon ve bankacılığa etkileri

Abstract

In this study, effects of inflation on BankingSector and changes in banking after 1980 areinvestigated.It is observed that Turkish Banking Sector whichis operating under pressure of inflation, has beensuccessful in technological improvements, managementand organization. However, ,it has not yet achieved thegoal of international,competetiveness effective 'riskmanagement and financial strength.Also, it is seen that Turkish Banks have atendency of making non-banking businesses which aremuch more profitable than original banking operationsunder~the present conditions. The reason for that ishigh share of state banks in the sector and big deal ofgovernment intervention in the sector.In this study it is indicated that high rates ofinflation is increasing the level and effects of risks(all kinds) which banks are exposed to.The results indicate that solution to problems ofthe sector is stabilized banking system and effectivefinancial management. To do that `governmentintervention in the sector should be reduced; qualityof the personnel in the sector should be improved`.
