Kesit boyuncaderlenen 12 adet örnekten 29 adet cinse ait 42 Radyolarya taksonu tanımlanmıstırve kesitin yası geç Kimmeridyen-erken Titoniyen olarak belirlenmistir. Alacaatlı-2Ölçülü Stratigrafik Kesiti ise Alacaatlı köyünün kuzeybatısında yer almaktadır.Kesit altta Triyas yaslı kireçtası blokları içeren kumtasları ile baslar, bu birimlerinüzerinde uyumsuzlukla Akbayır formasyonu'na ait nodüler, killi, ammonitlikireçtası, killi kireçtası, çört, çamurtası, orta seviyelerde killi kireçtası-marnçamurtasıardalanması, üst seviyelerde ise kireçtası-killi kireçtası-marn-çamurtasıçörtardalanması yer alır. Kesitin toplam kalınlıgı 62 metre olup, 23 adet örnekderlenmistir. Kesitin alt seviyelerinden derlenen 6 adet örnekten, 37 cinse ait 70adet Radyolarya taksonu belirlenmisir. Study area is situated in the west-southwest of Ankara city center. In the scope ofthis study, 5 stratigraphic sections, namely Tahar Tepe ? 1 and 2, Beytepe,Alacaatlı - 1 and 2 including lithological units of Akbayır formation in the vicinity ofBeytepe, Alacaatlı villages and Tahar tepe have been investigated. The Tahar Tepe ? 1 stratigraphic section located in the northwest of Tahar tepeconsists of brecciated, nodular ammonitic limestone at the base, clayey limestone, mudstone, chert, limestone at central part and clayey limestone-mudstonealternations at the top. This section is 18 meter in thickness and 12 samples werecollected throughout the section. From 2 chert samples collected from the centralparts of the section, 14 taxa of 14 genera were determined. The age of the sectionwas assigned as late Kimmeridgian-early Tithonian. The Tahar Tepe-2stratigraphic section is located in the west of Tahar tepe and consists of chertylimestone, mudstone, limestone, chert at the base, clayey limestone-marlalternations at the central part and marl-mudstone alternations at the top. Fromthis 35 meter thick section, 19 samples were collected and, 11 Radiolarian taxa of10 genera were determined only from 1 sample situated in the basal part of thesection. The age of the sample was assigned as early Tithonian. The Beytepe stratigraphic section is situated in southeast of Beytepe village.Sandstone of Liassic age is situated at the base of section and this part isunconformably overlain by calciturbudite levels of Akbayır formation. The sectionconsists of clayey limestone-mudstone alternations at the central part andmudstone, cherty limestone, marl and chert alternations at the top. Total thicknessof the section is 21 meter and 12 samples were collected throughout the section.22 Radiolarian taxa of 17 genera were determined from the 3 samples located atthe central part and top of the section. The age of the section was dated as lateKimmeridgian-early Tithonian. The Alacatlı-1 stratigraphic section is 10 meter in thickness and situated innorthwest of Alacaatlı village. From this section, 22 samples were collected. Basalpart of the section is represented by sandstone with limestone blocks of Triassicage. These lithologies are unconformably overlain by nodular, clayey ammoniticlimestone, chert, mudstone, marl levels of Akbayır formation. Central part of thesection comprises limestone-chert-marl alternations, while sandy limestone-chertmarlalternations were observed at the top of the section. From 12 samples takenalong the section, 42 Radiolarian taxa of 29 genera were determined. Age of thesection was assigned as late Kimmeridgian-early Tithonian. The Alacaatlı-2stratigraphic section is located in northwest of Alacaatlı village. Basal part of thesection is characterized by sandstones with limestone blocks of Triassic age. These lithologies are unconformably overlain by nodular, clayey, ammoniticlimestone, clayey limestone, chert, mudstone of Akbayır formation. The sectioninvolves clayey limestone-marl-mudstone alternations at the central part, andlimestone-clayey limestone-marl-mudstone-chert alternations at the top. Totalthickness of the section is 62 meter and twenty-three samples were collected. From 6 of the samples taken from the basal part of the section, 70 Radiolariantaxa of 37 genera were determined. Considering the fauna, basal part of thesection was dated as late Kimmeridgian-early Tithonian. Radiolarian fauna havenot been obtained from samples taken from marl and clayey-limestone levelscorresponding to central part of the section. However, Radiolarian faunas wereobtained from 6 of the samples collected from lithologies corresponding to the topof the section. According to this fauna, the top of the section was dated asTithonian-early Valanginian.Detailed definition of Radiolarian faunas obtained in the circumstances of thisstudy were performed. Radiolarian faunas obtained from this period have beencompared with the Radiolarian faunas obtained from coeval Tethyan and Pacificrealms. Keywords: Akbayır formation, Ankara, Biostratigraphy, Early Cretaceous, LateJurassic, Radiolaria, Taxonomy.
