Abstract
The aim of this thesis is to design, synthesize and study the chromatographic performances of nanochromatographic scale monoliths for capillary electrochromatography. In the scope of this thesis, butyl methacrylate (BMA) based columns were synthesized. A new porogen system was introduced and thermally initiated polymerization technique was used to syntesize BMA based monolithic capillary columns in this thesis. Also a monomer containing flour (F) group was introduced to synthesize new monolithic capillary columns. The presence of F group makes change in the polarity of organic compounds. In this purpose new monolithic columns containing F group were synthesized and their chromatographic performances were compared with acrylic and styrenic based monoliths in the literature. 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl methacrylate (TFEM) was selected as fluorinated monomer. Also in this section of this thesis a new wall attechment protocol based on `Click chemistry? was proposed. Poly(Etyhylene glycol) based monolithic columns which were not present in the literature were also synthesized. So new polar monolithic columns were synthesized and their chromatographic performances were examined. These newly produced monolithic columns were used successfully for the seperation of alkylbenzene, phenol, benzoic acid and aniline derivatives and theoretical plate numbers up to 300.000 m-1 were achieved.
