Abstract
Detailed petrographic and fluid inclusion studies of the Akdağmadeni Pb-Zn deposit at the granitic-metamorphic rock contacts and the Başçatak Pb-Zn-Cu- sulfide deposit in metamorphites, and the roles of the magmatic and metamorphic processes in the formation of these deposits are researched in the content of this study.Impacts of contact metamorphism are observed in the wall rock and ore samples taken from the drillings in close vicinity of the granitic intrusions at Akdağmadeni deposit. The ores generally have irregular geometry and they are disseminated and lensoid-boudine shaped. As for the mineralization at the Akdağmadeni sites away from the intrusion and at Başçatak deposit where no intrusion is observed, they possess common metamorphic structure-texture properties. The presence of the mineralization, which are especially consistent with metamorphites and has a shape of band and lens, points out that the mineralization is affected from the same metamorphic processes with the rocks in which they are present. In addition to the directional structure-texture, recrystalization and remobilization (ore intrusions and pressure shadow enrichments) structure-textures are frequently observed. Moreover, the metamorphic minerals such as garnet, sillimanite, biotite and turmaline commonly includes ore mineral inclusions.Detailed fluid inclusion studies were carried out on quartz, calcite, epidote, turmaline, garnet and sphalerite of the zones with mineralization that are close to and away from the granitic intrusion. The irregular, star and tail shaped fluid inclusion geometries observed in the samples taken from the close vicinity of the granitic intrusion indicate the impacts of contact metamorphism. Observing regular shaped fluid inclusions in the ores that are away from the intrusion, the increase in the CO2 content of the fluid inclusions when getting away from the intrusion and the homogenization temperatures of >580oC measured in the inclusions in some quartz, garnet, tourmaline and sphalerite with high iron content indicate the regional metamorphism conditions that are effective on the mineralization. Furthermore, the fluid inclusion shapes that are elongated and necking-down reveal that the fluid inclusions are affected from the processes like deformation and recrystalization. There is no evident to change and increase in the homogenization temperature of the fluid inclusions in proportion to the closeness to the granitic intrusion and higher homogenation temperatures are obtained at Başçatak deposit where no intrusion is observed.Consequently, the petrographic and fluid inclusion data reveals that the Akdağmadeni region Pb-Zn-Cu deposits are affected from the contact and regional metamorphism together with the rocks that are in the deposit and the impact of the granitic intrusions on the deposits is not about the origin, but as rearrangement of the existing enrichments.
