Abstract
In this master thesis, creep properties of one-staple furniture joints constructed from scotch pine, alder and beech wood were investigated under three different load levels. The load levels were determined as 30 %, 40 % and 50% based on the results of lateral shear test before creep loading and the wood joints subjected to these load levels. Laboratory test results indicated that the joints constructed from scotch pine with the lowest densityshowed the highest creep deformationwhile the joints constructed from the beech wood with the highest density showed the lowest creep deformation. Additionally, the wood joints showed the lowest creep deformation under the load level of 30%, a greater creep deformation under the load level of 40% and the greatest creep deformation under the load level of 50%. As a result of the creep test, the creep deformation ratios of theone-staple joints produced from scotch pine, alder and beech to the deformation at the joining points as a result of the static shear resistance test of the joints before the creep test were determined as 2.74%, 3.71%, 4.37% and 3.37%. In addition, the mean creep deformation value of the one-staple wood joints under the load level of 30%, 40% and 50% compared to initial static loading was determined as 3.61%.
