Abstract
Dust that occurs in the resulting from a number of activities such as wind erosion, sandstorms, quarrying, mining, road construction etc. has an important influence on the rangeland vegetation and its effects depends on the physical and chemical properties of the dust. For this purpose, the ratio of grasses species, legume species, other families species, canopy coverage and rangeland quality of the rangeland sites in the different fast to pumice mining were investigated. There was no significantly effect of distance of the source of dust on grasses species ratio. But their ratio increased with increasing distance from dust source. The legume species ratio firstly increased and then was decrease depend on distance away from dust source. This change in legume species was not statistically significant. The other families species decreased distance away from the dust source, and this differences was significant (p <0.01). The other families species ratio was very low at the distance away from dust source at the rangeland site. The canopy coverage ratio, an indicator of soil resistance to erosion, increased significantly (p <0.01) distance away from dust source and was above soil loss limit with erosion. With decrease in the negative effect of dust showed a significant increase in the rangeland quality. As a result, it has been found that dust affects rangeland vegetation and this effect is higher in areas near the dust source.
