Abstract
SUMMARY The subject of our theisis is to lighten the tense concept in the usage of semantic values in contemporary French and English Tense is generally a linguistic category wich denotes the various division of a period depending on the action. The main characteristic of the tense is that it relates moment of action in the utterance to moment of speech of the producer, namely speaker. The frequent classification about the tense is present/ past/ future division, but this distinction doesn't involve a proprety universal. When talking about the tense of action. Usually, existence of semantic single etiquette, that connects to the every period of time, is accepted. In another words, it is thought that an action with present time always has a present tense semantic meaning, although it can have a meaning with future tense even a past tense.Briefly, every time period has many semantic value. Only using present/ past/ future tenses in general, is insufficient to explain the periodic sections of semantic values. In this step, the main concern of the theisis is seen: the reperation of present/ past/ future tenses has not an universial property. This types of problems have been seen translating a language to an another while teaching a foreign language. - In this study, we will try to solve the problems wich have been already mentioned.
