Abstract

As the tailings of handsorting and magnetic separator at the concentration plant of Konya Chromium-Magnesite Brick Corporation have not been recovered for years, they have been deposited on a dump site. Nowadays, the total bulk of the tailings in concern is estimated to be around 400.000 tonnes. IllIn this work, to recover these tailings, representing samples were taken and fed through Permroll fixed, high intensity magnetic separator. It was determined that the modifications made to the feeding rate and the belt speed have effects on MgO yield and SİO2 grade. Particularly, in the event of reducing the feeding rate and belt speed, a remarkable separation of magnesite and serpentine is achieved, but due to the high structural SİO2, concentrates were not attained which are to be directly used in the manufacture of refractor bricks.
