Alphonse de Lamartine`in eserlerinde Turquerie

Abstract

Doğu, yüzyıllar boyunca Batılı için hep bir merak ve araştırma unsuru olmuştur. Doğuyu ziyaret eden seyyahlar, gözlemlerini ve edindikleri bilgileri not alarak seyahatnamelerle okuyucuya ulaştırmışlardır. Bu çalışmalarda, Doğu genellikle Türkiye ile özdeşleştirilmiştir. Türklerin yaşam biçimi, sosyal hayatları, dinleri, gelenekleri, kadınları, bazı Türk şehirleri ve hatta sokakları bile Avrupalı seyyahlar tarafından en ince ayrıntısına kadar incelenmiştir. Kimileri Doğu'ya önyargı ile yaklaşıp, aşağılarken; kimileri de bu büyülü dünyaya hayran kalıp, övgüler yağdırmışlardır. Önemli seyyahlardan birisi olan Alphonse de Lamartine eserlerinde, diğer Avrupalı yazarların aksine Türkiye ve Türkler hakkında her zaman gerçeklere dayanan ve önyargılardan uzak bilgilere yer vermiştir. Lamartine, onurlu ve yüce bir toplum olarak tasvir ettiği Türk toplumunun eksikliklerini de görmüş ve bunları objektif ve tarafsız olarak anlatmıştır. Eksikliklerine rağmen Türklere sempati duyan ilk Fransız yazarlardan biri olmuştur. Lamartine'in `Doğuya Seyahat, Doğuya Yeniden Seyahat ve Türkiye Tarihi` isimli eserleri batılıların Doğu hakkında özellikle de Türkler hakkındaki önyargılarının değişmesinde etkili olmuştur. ABSTRACTThe Orient has always been a source of curiosity and research for the Occidental for centuries. Travelers visiting the Orient have taken notes of the observations and the information they obtained, and they presented them to readers through travel books. In these studies, the Orient has often been identified with Turkey. Turkish way of life, social life, religion, tradition, women, some Turkish cities and even the streets were studied by European travellers down to the last detail. While some people approached Oriental people with prejudice and humiliated them; others admired and praised this magical world. One of the most important travellers, Alphonse de Lamartine has always touched on information based on the truth and without prejudice on Turkey and the Turks in his works. Lamartine also saw the defects of Turkish society, which he described as a dignified and supreme society, and told them objectively and impartially. Despite their shortcomings, he became one of the first French writers who felt sympathy for the Turks. The works of Lamartine entitled `Voyage en Orient, Nouveau Voyage en Orient, and Histoire de la Turquie` have had a great role as regards the transformation of the prejudices of the Occident on the Orient and more particularly on the Turks.Keywords: Lamartine, Orient, Istanbul, Voyage to the Orient.
