Abstract
Tez konusu olarak Eski Yunan ve Roma'da askeri ve siyasi alandakehanetin etkileri belirlenmiştir. Konu hakkında antik kaynaklar ve arkeolojikbuluntular incelenerek değerlendirilmiştir. Bu bağlamda Yunan ve Romatoplumunda kehanet kültürü ilahi bir varlığa ihtiyaç duymalarından dolayızamanla ortaya çıktığı görülür. İhtiyaç duyulan ilahi varlık zamanla kehanetverebilen tanrılara, en başta ise baş kehanet tanrısı olarak bilinen Apollon'anasıl dönüştüğü araştırıldı. Ancak bu ilahi iradeye başvurmak için toplumun biraracıya ihtiyaç duyması zamanla Yunanlılarda kahin ve kehanet merkezleri,Romalılarda ise Haruspexler (Kahinler), kuş falı ve kutsal tavuklardan kehanetalınmasını ortaya çıkardı. Bu şekilde gelişen kehanet kültürü Yunan ve Romatoplumunda büyük bir saygı ve üne sahip oldu.Yaptığımız araştırmada ise teşkilatlanan ve kurumsallaşan bu kültür,Yunan toplumunda saygınlığını o kadar artırmış ki mutlak ve siyasi yönetimleryapmak istedikleri her kararı kehanet merkezleri ve kahinlere danışmakzorunda kalmıştır. Roma toplumunda ise bu inanç patricius sınıfının etkisindekalmıştır. Ayrıca patricius sınıfı, ilahi bir irade olarak kabul ettikleri bu kültürü,pleplerin bastırılmasın da ve patricius sınıfının mevcut durumunukorunmasında kullandıkları görülür. Bu kadar büyük bir gücü ve saygınlığıÖğrencininelde eden kehanet merkezleri zamanla halkın sermayesini yüksek ücretler ilesömürmeye başlamışdır. Ayrıca savaş ve siyasi kararlarda kendi lehlerinekehanet almak isteyen devlet ve kişilerede sahte kehanetler vermişlerdir.Ortaya koyulan bu bilgiler ışığında Yunan ve Roma toplumunda siyasive askeri alanda yaşanan olaylarda kehanetin ne derece önemli olduğu veetkilediği ortaya koyulmaya çalışılmıştır.Anahtar Kelimeler: Roma, Yunan, Kehanet Merkezleri, Patricius,Pleps, Apollon, Haruspexler The effects of the prophecy in the military and political spheres inAncient Greece and Rome were choosen as the topic of thesis. The ancientsources and archaeological findings were examined and evaluated. In thiscontext, it is seen that divine being emerged from the fears and needs of peopleand divine culture in Greek and Roman society over time. The required divinebeing was investigated, how it became the gods who could prophesy, asApollon, who was known as the chief god of prophecy in time. However, theneed for an intermediary of society to resort to the gods of this divine will ledto the divination of the priests and divination centers in the Greeks, and theHaruspexes (oracles), bird fortune and holy chickens in the Romans. Theculture of prophecy that developed in this way had great respect and fame inGreek and Roman society.In our research, this culture, which was organized and institutionalized,was influenced by the patricius class of Roman society. In addition, thepatricius class is regarded as a divine will by the society and this sacredinstitution which is accepted as the thought of the hatch, the suppression of thePleps are used to protect the current state of the Patricius class. In Greeksociety, the culture of prophecy has increased its prestige so much that absoluteand political administrations have had to consult with the divination centersand oracles of every decision they wish to make. The divination centers, whichgained such great power and dignity, started to exploit the capital of the peoplewith the prophecies they gave with high wages. They also gave false viiprophecies in states and people who wanted to take prophecy in their favor inwar and political decisions.In the light of this information, it was tried to put forward theimportance and effect of the prophecy in the political and military events inGreek and Roman society.Keywords: Rome, Greek, Divination Centers, Patricius, Pleps, Apollo,Haruspexler
