Turizme katılımda engelli bireylerin motivasyon ve beklentilerine ilişkin görgül bir araştırma

Abstract

Bu tez çalışmasının temel amacı, engelli bireylerin turizme katılım konusundaki motivasyonlarını ve beklentilerini belirlemektir. Bunun yanında, engellilerin konaklama, seyahat, ulaştırma ile yiyecek-içecek işletmelerine yönelik hizmet beklentilerinin detaylarını belirlemek de amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmada araştırma yöntemi olarak, özellikle son dönemlerde bilimsel çalışmalarda sıkça kullanıldığı görülen nitel araştırma yöntemi, veri toplama tekniği olarak ise daha detaylı verilere ulaşmak amacıyla kullanılan görüşme tekniği kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın araştırma evrenini, Türkiye'deki çoğunluğu ortopedik engelli olan bireyler oluşturmaktadır. Engelli bireylere yönelik düzenlemelerin genellikle ortopedik engelliler göz önüne alınarak yapılması, evren seçiminde önemli rol oynamıştır. Araştırmanın örneklemi açısından yapılacak olan seçim ise, derneklerle iletişim kurularak üyeleri arasından nitelikli ve rastgele örneklem seçme tekniği ile yapılmıştır. Bu kapsamda, toplam 26 engelli birey ile görüşmeler gerçekleştirilmiş, engelli bireylerin turizme yönelik motivasyon ve beklentileri belirlenmiştir.Çalışmanın bulgularına göre, engellilerin turizme katılımları sürecinde birçok kısıtlayıcı unsurla karşılaştıkları tespit edilmiştir. Yaşadıkları zorluklar ve karşılaştıkları kısıtlar nedeniyle, engelli bireylerin turizme yönelik motivasyonları ve turizmden beklentileri çok kapsamlı değildir. Bulgular doğrultusunda, genel olarak altyapı düzenlemeleriyle ilgili kısıtlarla karşılaşan engelli bireylerin temel beklentisinin erişilebilirlik olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Erişilebilirlik konusunda yaşanan problemlerin, engelli bireyleri sosyal yaşamdan ve dolayısıyla turizme katılımdan uzaklaştırdığı tespit edilmiştir. Turizme katılım, bireylerin eğlenmesi, dinlenmesi vb. ihtiyaçları gidermesi açısından engelli bireyler açısından toplumsal yaşamda önemli bir yere sahiptir. Ancak, araştırma sonuçları, engelli bireylerin turizme katılım konusunda farklı motivasyon ve beklentilere sahip olmadığını göstermektedir. Bu araştırma sonuçları, engelli bireylerin turizme katılımlarının artırılabilmesinin, onların hareketlerinin kısıtlanmamasına ve erişilebilir bir ortamın yaratılmasına bağlı olduğunu göstermektedir. The main purpose of this thesis is to determine the motivation and expectations of disabled individuals to participate in tourism. In addition, it is aimed to determine the details of the service expectations of the disabled for accommodation, travel, transport, and food and beverage businesses. In this study, in order to reach more detailed data, qualitative research method, which is used frequently in scientific studies recently, and interview technique, which is used as data gathering technique, were used. The majority of the research universe consists of individuals with orthopaedic disabilities in Turkey. In the selection of the universe, the arrangements for disabled individuals, which are usually made taking orthopaedic disabilities into consideration, played an important role. The selection to be made for the sampling of the study was conducted with qualified and random sampling selecting technique among the members by making contact with associations. In this context, a total of 26 disabled individuals were interviewed and the motivation and expectations of disabled individuals for tourism were determined.According to the findings of the study, it is found that the disabled encounter many restrictive factors during their process of participation in tourism. Because of the difficulties they meet and the constraints they face, the motivation of disabled individuals for tourism and their expectations for tourism is not very comprehensive. In line with the findings, it has been revealed that the basic expectations of disabled individuals faced with restrictions on infrastructure regulations, in general, have emerged to be accessibility. It is determined that the problems with accessibility have taken people with disabilities away from social life and therefore from participation in tourism. Participation in tourism has an important place in social life for disabled individuals in terms of their needs such as having fun, resting, etc. However, research results show that individuals with disabilities do not have different motivations and expectations for participation in tourism. The results of the research show that increasing disabled individuals' participation in tourism depends on not restricting their movements and creating an accessible environment.Keywords: Tourism, Disabled, Disabled Tourism, Motivation, Expectation
