Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the technical properties such as the compressive and flexural strength, capillarity, lightness and insulation of brick which are produced by using waste materials.According to this approach; phosphogypsum was used to produce an economical and sensitive for environment, perlite to lighten and increase insulation properties, cement, lime and zeolite as binder. The study contained two parts. In the first part, it was studied to determine the best binder ratio for the composite brick produced by waste materials. For that; first samples were used to determine the binder ratios. The samples used for comparison which were mortars 40x40x160 mm. These samples were experimented for 24 hour and 35 °C water in fast cure and for 28 days in normal cure. It was seen that mechanical properties of the samples in fast cure and normal cure were not very different. In the second stage, the properties of the samples were investigated by changing rates of perlite and phosphogypsum. Then, phosphogypsum were used be calcinated and it was continued only with the rapid cure. In the essential and the last step, the moulds of 105x225x75 mm were used by passing true brick to size. The results of the study showed similarities with those of the mortars. Also for heat insulation of the samples were taken. In conclusion; it is determined that using of phosphogypsum as an additive in waste-material based brick, is strongly beneficial for insulation performance, mechanical durability, lightness, workability, forming and economical reasons. Especially it is thought that this study is important for different waste materials.
