Abstract
The objective of this thesis is to implement power transformers monitoring and fault prevention-oriented smart management system. In this sense, modern monitoring methods and diagnostic techniques are classified depending on input - output variables. The correlations between these methods classified and faults are carried out by the method of Fault Sensitivity Matrix (FSM) developed within the proposed algorithm. In the proposed algorithm, different expert system applications are used in order to determine the location and size of the fault type and to create the FSM based on data acquired from the system. An interface which enables the proposed algorithm to become more functional is designed in the LabVIEW. The designed interface is made up of two sections as on-line and off-line monitoring. In the first section, the system is continuously kept under observation. Operating performance of the system, loss of life, remaining service life, cooling performance, possible fault conditions, risk levels and the other variables are monitored in this section. As to the second section, the results of the tests and measurements which are suggested by the program depending on occurrence of the fault on the system are evaluated. In the algorithm used in the interface, certain new methods are proposed and applied for the purpose of the analysis of the operating performance and achieving archiving optimization. In order to test the algorithm and to establish its functionality, a power transformer prototype is designed. Multiple data acquired from the prototype is transferred to the algorithm via the converter circuits and DAQ card. Faults made up on the prototype on purpose within specific scenarios are diagnosed in an early stage owing to the algorithm employed in the interface. These faults are verified by implementing offline test/measurements suggested by the algorithm and evaluating the results of these test/measurements. As a consequence, experimental studies demonstrate the validity and feasibility of the proposed algorithm.
