Abstract
When studied the traditional energy production power plants consuming fossil fuels can only convert one-third of fuel energy into useful work. The remaining two thirds of low temperature thermal energy convecting low temperature sink reservoir. The need for energy in the most of the industrial enterprises is supplied discrete. Due to discrete energy production, the total efficiency of the power system is reduced and inclined power losses. The plant consist of a gas engine based trigeneration system that uses both engine jacket water and engine exhaust gases. In this thesis, for an industrial facility which provides electrical needs completely from the circuit and steam needs of the system with natural gas fired boilers systems' energy, environmental and economic analysis was performed. The first priority is estimation of electrical demand for the system. Afterwards thermal demands identified. In this study, making energy analysis started with calculation of gas engines thermal efficiencies then prepared feasibility analysis of the implemented system. In the current situation, the system needs 57.6 million kWh of annual electricity consumption, 28.9 million kWh heat and 20.4 million kWh of cooling per year. With the proposed trigeneration system 850.000 € savings, 50.7 million kWh electricity, 28.6 million kWh thermal production will be achieved. In addition, 9.9 million kg less carbon dioxide will be released. When the results of the studies examined and comparison with literature data, 12.96% primary energy savings achieved and results obtained have revealed energy saving potential.
