Abstract
In this thesis study, general information about the fuel cell is given and the basic fuel cell equations are explained. In the context of simulation studies, a two-phase, three-dimensional and single-channel fuel cell model has been developed in non-isothermal and steady state situation. CFD simulations of the developed model were solved by the finite volume method using Ansys Fluent software. The developed model examines energy, momentum, mass conservation, electrochemical reactions and water transport phenomenon.Parametric analyses performed in this study were carried out to determine optimal cell operating conditions. Parameters such as temperature, pressure, anode and cathode relative humidity and stoichiometric ratios were investigated according to varying cell voltages. A polarisation and power density curves were generated for each parameter according to the obtained data. Optimal cell operating conditions were determined with the obtained comparative data. The validity of the generated model is confirmed by verifying model results with experimental studies.
