Abstract
The tendency to use human power more economically has made mobile robots widespread in military, industrial and personal areas. Mobile robots, which find applications in many independent sectors, are used for various purposes. Mobile robots are used in key areas such as cargo handling, cleaning, advertisement-promotion, field survey and search-and-rescue. In addition to mobile robots controlled by remote control devices, full-autonomous mobile robots that do not require any operator, and semi-autonomous systems with autonomous mobility that are open to human intervention are available. In the decision-making phase, the systems, which accept the remote control flow but continue to work in the autonomous form, are in the semi-autonomous class. Depending on the working environment, it may be considered within this scope that the system permits immediate intervention in environments where sudden risks may occur outside the field of view of the robot. Similarly, the static and predictive behavior of the working environment or its dynamic and unknown state affects the trajectory planning characteristic. Static trajectory planners, where there is a constant trajectory to which a robot is assigned in a particular trajectory and where this trajectory is not blocked; Dynamic trajectory planners are proposed for the absence of map information and/or environments with ever-changing obstacles. One of the basic components for tracking the planned trajectory and controlling the robot is the localization system. Global Positioning System (GPS)-based systems are generally used as localization system in the outdoors, and this approach is low performance and even intermittent for indoor use. As positioning precision increases, costs also increase in interior spaces. By combining all these components, an image processing based indoor localization system and a dynamic trajectory planner have been proposed. As a test platform, a three-wheel mobile robot platform with differential drive mechanism was developed. Within the scope of the thesis, a three-dimensional simulator working in MATLAB environment has been presented. Possible situations can be predicted by performing virtual tests on this interface before the tests to be performed on the robot. Supporting user defined robot kinematics and trajectory planners, the simulator gives very similar results to real-time experiments, which saves energy and workload before real-time work. In addition to this, the mobile robot platform can be controlled by a remote control unit, processes and instant position can be monitored in real time from the remote control interface. If necessary, the autonomous task can be switched to manual mode and the robot can also be controlled by remote control.
