Abstract
SUMMARY In underground mining, where mechanized excavation Sys tems are applied, the purpose of auxiliary ventilation appe ars as; providing sufficient amount of air for the workers and also in-situ suppresion of dust and subsequent removal of it. Selection of the most appropriate auxiliary ventila - t ion systems comprises the major part of the topic. In this thesis, the conventional blower system, which is currently being used in dedusters in Middle Anatolian Lignite Mine is compared with the new proposal; `Controlled Secircu- lation Ventilation` as far as concept of dust control is concerned. In this study, which depends upon in-sitü dust measure - ment and inspections, practical results were obtained regar ding to the advantages and disadvantages of the both systems. In suppression of dust coming out from the excavation of the tunneling machine, it has been proved that efficient use of dedusters is an effective way of handling dust problems.
