Abstract
801 7. SUMMARY IN ENGLISH ABOUT THE METHOD AND THE MATERIALS OF STUDY This bachelor's degree thesis is a study made in order to evaluate the sculpture collection from the point of `Museology` as it forms a source about the current artworks and their artists for the archives of the Mimar Sinan University Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture. In the `Introduction` section, the study method of the thesis, the materials and the historical development of the MSU Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture is described. `Experimental Study and Findings` are held under two sections as `Catalogue` and `Questionnaire`. In the Catalogue section, the artworks and their artists available in the Sculpture Collection of the MSU Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture are introduced, it is scrutinized if these artworks reflect the works of their artists, it is recommended where the missing works can be provided from the development of the collection. The Catalogue is consisted of four group, `Works of Turkish Artists`, `Works of Foreign Artists`, `Anonymous Works`, `Works by Unknown Artists`. As the artworks are classified according to their artists, Turkish artists are put into order in respect of their forenames whereas the foreign artists are in the order of their surnames. The families of Ernur Tüzün, Fuat Mensi Dileksiz, Haluk Tezonar, Kuzgun Acar, Nermin Faruki, Nijat Sirel, Nusret Suman, Yavuz Görey who are not living today, are spoken to.803 In the second section, a questionnaire is applied to 100 museum visi tors and to 46 people who are closely interested with here due to their subjects such as sculptors, teachers, museolgs, gallery owners. It is tried to determine how they appraise the museum, especially the sculpture collection and in the means of the responses to the questionnaire, subjects such as sculpture collec tion of MSU Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture, scope, exhibition, pre vention are evaluated. Our study is treated in four main sections together with the `Conclusion` and `Sources`. COLLECTION In the sculpture collection of the MSU Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture, there is a total of 400 artworks. 363 of these belong to Turkish artists, 16 to foreign artists. In the collection which comprise 9 anonymous African masks and statues (p.395-402), the artists of the 12 works are unknown (p.403-414).
