Abstract
been abserved that the angle of spirality seerato increase slightly on thes fabric samples. The conelusions drawn by thes experimental vork will be useful in throwing linht ta subsegment work on this subject and also in find ing solutions particularly to the problems encountered during the production of plain knit fabrics which form a great part of the produc tion of fabrics for underwear and T - shirt.cotton and orlon yarns have been steam set under similar conditions and the amounts of spirality observed on the samples knitted using steam set yarns have been compared. The samples of cloths have been subjected to finishing treatment at three stages, thus enabling the fabrces to attain their relaxed state. For this purpose wet relaxations and washing treatments have been applied respectively on the dry relaixed fabric samples and the chan ges have been examined biy measunrements made on the fabric samples af ter each treatment. As a result of this experi mental work, it has been found that the most important factor affecting spirality on the samples of cooton and orlon fabrics have been the twist liveliness of the yarn due to twist, and it has been observed that the spirality is greater in the fabric samples knitted with high twist yarns. It has been observed that the tensions on the yarn can be partly eliminated by steam setting the yarns and that the angles of spirality decrease by important ampunts ou the fabric knitted with yarns the twists of which are set by steam. It has also been determined that a large amount of these tensions developing through yarn twist can be eliminated by using a two-wold yarn and that the spirality, thus, deceases. In fabric samples knitted with two different count of yarn, however, it has been observed that the fabric stiffness factor decreases in those knitted with finer yarn count and that slacker fabrics are obtained -as compared to the fabrics knitted with coarser yarns. Because of the fact that the twist liveliness is higher in finer count of yarn it has alsobeen abserved that the angle of spirality seerato increase slightly on thes fabric samples. The conelusions drawn by thes experimental vork will be useful in throwing linht ta subsegment work on this subject and also in find ing solutions particularly to the problems encountered during the production of plain knit fabrics which form a great part of the produc tion of fabrics for underwear and T - shirt.
