Abstract
VII ABSTRACT Comparison of Agent Frameworks From Different Perspectives ÇETİN, Erhan MSc in Computer Engineering Supervisor: Asst. Prof. Dr. Rıza Cenk ERDUR December 2005, 157 pages Agent frameworks provide the infrastructure and services that are needed to construct agent systems. With this built-in support, agent systems can be developed in a faster and more reliable way. Currently, there are many agent frameworks. So, it is a problem to choose the agent framework that best fits to the needs of the application that is going to be developed and that implements the required standards. In this study, as a solution to the mentioned problem, a criteria catalogue has been defined to specify the different perspectives for the comparison of agent frameworks. Most of the criteria in this catalogue have been defined based on the elements of the meta-models of several agent system development methodologies. In addition, to be able to add the criteria related with the application development phase, three of the well-known agent frameworks have been chosen, and an agent based news filtering application has been developed using each of these frameworks. Keywords: Multi-Agent Systems, Agent Frameworks, Agent Development Methodologies, Agent Framework Comparison.
