Abstract
Anahtar sözcükler: polimer malzemeler, mekanik özellikler, sürünme testi Recently, utilization of polymers in automotive and aerospace industries has steadily been increasing due to their superior physical, chemical and mechanical properties. Their low densities, superior mechanical properties, and easy processability increase their potential to be utilized in the automotive sector and reveal the necessity for further tests and research in this area. Tensile and compression, shear, bending, impact and creep tests are the most widely performed tests while determining the mechanical properties of plastics. In this thesis project, samples of polyoxyethylene, polyamide, ethylene propylene diene monomer polymers were used and samples of these polymers were subjected to creep, compresssion and tensile tests.Creep tests were performed at 50?C, 80?C and 100?C with samples immersed in `Shell Thermia Oil B? oil under 12,5MPa, 15MPa, 20MPa and 27,5MPa pressures for 500 hours (21 days). After that, compression test were performed to the samples subjected to creep tests for determining their mechanical properties. Mass loses were detected on the samples subjected to creep tests. After experiments conducted at 100?C, a color change of polyoxyethylene and polyamide materials from white to a yellowish color same as the oil that the samples were immersed in.Keywords: polymeric materials, mechanical properties, creep test
