dc.description.abstract- 76 - SUMMARY In this study, the role of endogenous nitric oxide in % antinociceptive activity of tiamine and morphine has been investigated by p-benzoquinone (p-BQ) induced writhing algesia model in mice. The effects of tiamine (0.11 mg.kg-1),morphine(0. 13 mg.kg-1), L-arginine (50 mg.kg-1), ISF-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME, 75 mg.kg-1) and methylene blue (MB 40 mg.kg-1) in the abdominal constriction of mice induced by p-BQ, were evaluated by s.c. administrations of single and' duplicate combinations. As a result, tiamine, morphine and L-arginine were induced antinociception while methylene blue caused hyperalgesia. The hyperalgesic effect of methylene blue was totally abolished when combined with tiamine and morphine, by the production of guanylate cyclase activation. Evidently, it is taken into account that L-arginine/NO-cGMP pathway was involving the antinociceptive effect of tiamine.en_US
