1ABSTRACTThe Relationship Between Anger and Self-care Agency In ThePatients with HypertensionIn this research, the relationship between anger and anger expressionstyle with self-care agency in the individuals who have been diagnosed asHypertension had been investigated. It had been planned and realized asdescriptive and sectional.The population of the research was composed of patients withHypertension who had applied to Buca Village Clinic 2. The sample wascomposed of the patients who have been diagnosed as Hypertension atleast six month ago and who had applied to Buca Village Clinic 2 betweenJuly - August 2005.Data had been collected via three forms after the permission had beengot: Self-care Agency Scale, Trait Anger and Anger Expression Scale andIndividual Identity Form developed by the researcher. The data had beenevaluated by percentage, mean, standard deviation, variance, t-test andCorrelation Analyse.According to the research results; the average age of patients was57,06 ± 9,73 ; %74,4 of the patients were women; %75,7 of the patientswere married; %48,9 of the patients were graduated from primary school.The self-care agency point mean was 103,87 ± 19,31 and effective factorswere gender, age group, the level of education, using medicine orderly,exercises, diet for controlling tension, effect to the life of hypertension,smoking, assessment of mental and physical health.Trait anger point mean was 21,13 ± 6,61 and effective factors were thelevel of education, assessment of socioeconomic status, exercises forcontrolling tension, effect to the life of hypertension, having a mentaldisorder, assessment of mental and physical health, having a important lifeevent.Anger include point mean was 19,44 ± 4,94 and effective factors weregender, life place, the level of education, working status, assessment ofsocioeconomic status, exercises for controlling tension, effect to the life of2hypertension, using alcohol, assessment of mental and physical health,having a important life event.Anger exclude point mean was 13,10 ± 4,49 and effective factors weregender, individuals who lives together with, working status, diet forcontrolling tension, smoking, having a mental disorder, assessment ofmental and physical health.Anger control point mean was 23,40 ± 4,97 and effective factors werediet for controlling tension, having a mental disorder, assessment of mentalhealth.There is a negative correlation between trait anger and self-careagency; when trait anger point increase, the self-care agency pointdecrease. There are also negative correlations between anger include,anger exclude and self-care agency; when anger include and anger excludepoint means increase, the self-care agency point means decrease. There isa positive correlation between anger control and self-care agency; whenanger control point means increase, the self-care agency point means alsoincrease.
