Abstract
The purpose of this descriptive research is to determine the ones who havesaliva flow by considering the mouth and facial characteristics of the childrensuffering from Serebral Palsy and to describe the relation between the oral-motorcharacteristics and the degree of the saliva flow.100 children between the ages of 4:0-15:0 participated in this research whoattended the units of physical treatment, psychology and special educationbetween April-July 2003 at Metin Sabancl Centre of Spastic Children in Istanbulthat serve to children with Serebral Palsy.During the period of data collection, family information and oral-motorexamination forms are applied. A nonparametric analyzing method the chi squaretest is applied to the data. The dissociation of the data to answer the targetquestions is given by frequency and percentage degrees and they are shown bytables.ivAccording to the results of this research 38% of these 100 children whoare serving as a model have saliva flow. When the relation between the salivaflow and oral-motor characteristics is examined, at the consideration of the moutha meaningful dependence is supplied between the speed of the mouth movementand the degree of the saliva flow, the strength of the lips at the movement of thecheek blowing and the saliva flow, the length of the tongue and the saliva flow,the downloads movement of the tongue and the degree of the saliva flow, thechanges at the rate of the tongue movement to the left and right sides and thedegree of the saliva flow and the wideness of the arc and the degree of the salivaflow.
