Abstract

ÖZET CİHAN BUHRANINDA ANADOLU KÖYLÜLERİ 1929-1933 Bu tezin amacı, ekonomi politikalarının liberalizmden devletçiliğe geçişini incelemek yerine, Anadolu köylülerinin buhrandan nasıl etkilendikleri konusu üzerinde yoğunlaşarak, 1929 cihan buhranının Türkiye'deki etkileri üzerine olan çalışmalara yeni bir bakış açısı getirmektir. Bu tezde ihracata yönelik olan bölgelerdeki köylülerin buhranla beraber gelen aşın fiyat düşüşünden etkilendiği ve buna karşı sessiz kalmadığı ve reaksiyon gösterdiği savunulmaktadır. Bu görüşü ispatlamak amacıyla izmir, Samsun, Adana, Mersin ve Konya'daki yerel gazeteler kullanılmıştır. iv

ANATOLIAN PEASANTS IN THE GREAT DEPRESSION 1929-1933 Description of Work This thesis' objective is to bring a new perspective to the study of the depres sion of 1929 in Turkey, by concentrating on the Anatolian peasants and by trying to bring their voice into the matter rather than concentrating on the shift of eco nomic policies from liberal policies to etatism after 1929. I argue that peasants in Turkey in the export-oriented areas were indeed affected by the depression char acterized by a sudden fall of agricultural crops and were not passive but showed reactions to the difficulties brought about by the depression. In order to prove this argument, I made extensive use of local newspapers from export-oriented towns, such as Izmir, Samsun, Adana, Mersin and Konya. These newspapers proved that the depression was widely discussed in Turkey and described the bad conditions of the peasants. m
