The formation of Kemalist female identity : A historical-cultural perspective

Abstract

In this study, the new female identity institutionalizedin the Kemalist period is described and 'Kemalist femaleidentity' is criticized from a feminist point of view. Thisstudy is an attempt change in Turkey in relates to the changeto understand the· cultural-historical1900-1930 period particularly as itin the sex-gender system of Turkishsociety focusing on the intellectual elite women.
