vıı KISA ÖZET Alice Kitapları, Bitmeyecek Öykü ve Harun ve Öyküler Denizi içinden Dile ve Kurguya Fantastik Yolculuklar Hande Seçkin Tekdemir Odak noktası dil olan bu tezde, toplam dört metin (Lewis Carroll'm yazdığı iki Alice Kitabı, Michael Ende'nin yazdığı Bitmeyecek Öykü ve Salman Rushdie'nin yazdığı Harun ve Öyküler Denizi) Bakhtin'in dili bir ilişkiler düzeneği olarak gören kuramı açısından tartışılmıştır. Bakhtin'in dialojisi kuramsal çerçevenin önemli bir öğesini oluşturur. Dialoji pek çok düzeyde işler: sözcükler, karakterler, yazar ve okurlar aralarında konuşarak gerçek dünya ve kurgusal dünya arasında bir diyalog açarlar. Her üç yazar da metinlerdeki kimlik, adlandırma ve yineleme gibi konulan keşfetmek için bizi kurgusal dünyaya doğru bir yolculuğa çıkarırlar. Her üçü de okurun düşgücü ile kurgusal sürece katılımını ister ve kelimelerin gücü sayesinde dünyanın olumlu bir dönüşüm geçirebileceği umudunu taşır.

VI ABSTRACT Fantastic Journeys into Language and Fiction Through The Alice Books, The Neverending Story, and Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Hande Seçkin Tekdemir The main focus of this thesis is language. Four works by three authors -namely the two Alice books by Lewis Carroll, The Neverending Story by Michael Ende, and Haroun and the Sea of Stories by Salman Rushdie- are studied from the perspective of a Bakhtinian u nderstanding o f 1 anguage asa set o f i ntertextual r elationships. B akhtinian dialogy is an important part of my theoretical framework. The dialogy works on the level of words, characters, authors and readers, opening up a conversation between the worlds of reality and fiction. All three authors take us on a journey into fictional realms to explore issues related to identity, naming, and iteration in texts. Each of them asks the reader's imaginative participation in the story, with the hope that the world can be transformed into a better place through the power of words.
