Abstract

Tezde Sultan Abdülmecid dönemi ilmiye teşkilatının işleyişi; bu dönemde görevli ulemâ, özellikle de İstanbul müderrisleri dikkate alınarak ortaya konulmuştur. Literâtürde ilmiye teşkilatı ve ulemâyla ilgili birtakım çalışmalar görülse de sözkonusu konuyla ilgili boşluklar hâlâ devam etmektedir. Bu sebeple tezde genelde yüksek rütbeli Sultan Abdülmecid dönemi ulemâsı, özelde İstanbul müderrisleri ve bunlar üzerinden dönemin ilmiye teşkilâtı gösterilmek istenmiştir. Bu da Tarik Defterleri ve Takvim-i Vekâyi esas alınarak yapılmış, Başbakanlık Osmanlı Arşivi'ndeki belgeler ve Kronikler'deki konular tamamlayıcı bilgiler niteliğinde kullanılmıştır.Başlangıçta Sultan Abdülmecid dönemi ulemâsı genel bir değerlendirmeyle ele alınmıştır. Bunun yanında ulemânın sosyal kökenleri ve aile bağları; müderrislerin bölgesel, ailevî arka planı ile ailelerin meslekî arka planı göz önünde bulundurularak incelenmiştir.Medresede ve modernleşen eğitim alanında ulemânın incelendiği ikinci bölümde ise müderrislerin medreselerdeki tayin ve terfileri ile sahip oldukları farklı meslekler konu edilmiştir. Bunun yanında maarifle ilgili kurumlar ile mekteplerdeki ulemâ kısa da olsa değerlendirilmiştir.Son olarak ulemânın idarî yapıdaki rolleri ve görevden ayrılmaları; ulemânın aldıkları payeler ve nişanlar, teşrifattaki konumları ile ilmiye mesleğinden farklı sebeplerle çıkmaları üzerinden anlatılmıştır.Anahtar Kelimeler : Sultan Abdülmecid, ulemâ, ilmiye, teşkilat, kadı, İstanbul medreseleri, İstanbul müderrisleri

In this dissertation, the operation of the ulema organization, especially Istanbul mudarrises during the period of Abdulmecid has been examined. Although there is a certain number of works dealing with the ulema and the ulema organization, there is still a significant gap which should be fulfilled in the literature. Hence this work attempts to reveal the position of the high ranked ulema, namely Istanbul mudarrises, during the reign of Abdulmecid and through their examples to reach a general picture of the ulema class of the period under consideration. The Tariq Daftar and Takvim-i Vekayi have been used as the main sources of the work, while the documents from the Prime Ministry Ottoman Archives and the Chronicles were added as the supplementary data to the dissertation.In the first part, the ulema of the Abdulmecid period are generally evaluated. Along with this, the social backgrounds of the ulema and their family connections are examined by considering their regional, family and professional backgrounds.In the second part, which deals with the ulema in the areas of madrasa and modernized education, the appointment and the promotion of the mudarrises in the madrasa and the different professions they own are the main topics. Besides, institutions about education and the ulema in the maktaps are shortly referred.Finally, the roles given to the ulema in the administrative structure, the reasons of their departure from the ulema class, honours and badges assigned to them, and their positions in the ceremony are explained.Keywords : Sultan Abdülmecid, ulema, qadi, Istanbul madrasas, Istanbul mudarrises
