dc.description.abstract | In this study, the effect of drill geometry drilling operations on hole quality and cutting performance on GGG 50 material are investigated. For this purpose, experimental and virtual simulation studies have been carried out using the existing drill geometries and the original drill geometries. In the study, two different drill geometries that can be supplied commercially and two new drill geometries developed within the scope of this study were compared experimentally with respect to thrust force, moment and hole quality (surface roughness and geometric tolerances) data. Experimental results were evaluated using anova analysis, Taguchi S / N analysis and Gray relational analysis. Drill design has been obtained and produced with a simulation-based holistic approach. Virtual simulations were carried out using Deform software and the results of experimental and virtual simulation analyzes were evaluated to determine optimum geometry and optimum machining conditions. The originally developed number 4 tool geometry is modeled using Catia V5R21 software depending on the manufacturing based mathematical equations and the modeling steps are explained in detail. As a result, the determination of drill geometry and other cutting parameters in hole drilling operations has revealed the advantages and effects of different approaches on the test results. In the developed drill forms, drill geometry number 4 has been observed to be more successful than other commercially available drill numbers 1 and 2 and drill number 3 developed in this study. It is thought that the angles forming the channel form of the drill are effective in this success. The channel form of the drill bit with the number 4 geometry is wider than the other geometries, which facilitates the chip removal, reduces the thrust force and affects the surface roughness positively. | en_US |
