Lemi Türker March 1995, 103 pages This thesis comprises the synthesis of some substituted derivatives of N-arylphthalazinium-1-olate and the study of their participation in 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition reactions with various olefinic and acetylenic dipolarophiles. Huckel calculations based on the perturbational molecular orbital theory at the level of the frontier molecular orbital approach is used as a tool for the explanation, rationalization and prediction of the regioselectivity of the cycloaddition reactions.
