Abstract
Anahtar kelimeler : Uçak motoru tasarımı, görev tamım analizi, çevrim analizi, itki arttırıcıları, afterburnerler, pervane tasarımı VI ABSTRACT PERFORMANCE PREDICTION AND CYCLE SELECTION OF GAS TURBINE ENGINES Öztürk, Emre M.S., Department of Mechanical Engineering Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Ahmet Ş. Üçer Co-Supervisor: Asst. Prof. Dr. Tahsin Çetinkaya September 1996, 240 pages Constraint and mission analysis codes, and design and analysis codes for afterburners and propellers to be used in cycle analysis have been developed. The constraint and mission analysis formulation of Mattingly has been utilized. Design point of the aircraft/engine system of HD-19 aircraft is determined and its mission is analyzed with the codes. The computed preliminary design parameters of the engine are used in the cycle analysis for cycle selection. A software comparison study is carried out on the available cycle analysis software. A design and analysis model for inafterburners has been developed. The afterburner of the J85-CAN-15 has been resized for its major dimensions. The same afterburner has also been analyzed for performance. A design and analysis code has been developed for propellers. The model has been tested with data from literature and compared with a graphical method. Keywords: Aircraft engine design, mission analysis, constraint analysis, cycle analysis, thrust augmentation, afterburners, propeller design. IV
