Bayezid II (1448-1512) wrote Persian and Turkish poems under the pseudonym of Adlî, who is well known as a pacifist and religious sovereign in the history of the Ottoman Empire. Gathering famous scholars around him and taking a great interest in poetry and arts, it made a productive atmosphere culturally come alive and caused to be produced fine pieces of work in Ottoman writing, science and arts during his reign (1481-1512). In this time a series of innovations in tezhip (art of illumination) were attempted. The purpose of this study is to investigate ornamentations on divân manuscripts produced during this period and cultural elements focusing on the divân literature at the apex of the Ottoman literary world.
