Abstract
306 SUMMARY Seriye Register of Maraş Number23 1 H.1315/A.D.1897.1898 Seriye register is a kind of written document cinsisting of lawsuit papers, sentences given by cadis, any withnessing, a confessing, a donation, a metter to be written in formality, all firmans come from state center and record of orders and notifications in cronology. In Ottoman Sate %85 moslem rules are valid. Therefore in the intraduction of our studies in order to ease the understanding of the documets some knowladge abaut moslem law and the functions of ottoman cort organization is given. Later regularity and commercial courts arementioned shartly. We try to explain, general qualities and historical impartance of Seriye register Maraş consisting of 7 volumes are kept in national library. These Seriye registers are written betwen A.D. 1876-1922/H. 1293-1341. The volume number231 which is our thesis subject is written betwen H.1315/ A.D. 1897, 1898 and consists of sentencesgiven in Maraş Seriye court. In the documents cronology is not in order. In order to easeresearchers' studies especialy related to Maraş the summaries of documents and transcription texes are given. In conclusion part considering the results that we get during our studies knowledge abaut admirative, economicol and social consruction of Maraş based on Maraş Seriye register and annual of Halep Province dated 1324. In this period Maraş was a part of Halep Province. People deal with agricultire, commerce and different handcrafts. Although all provocations it is understood that the relations betwen Moslems and non Moslems are very well. This shows that moslems have a wide tolerance. Although it was late period of Ottoman state justico foundation worked well. İn must of the lawsuit there. `Şuhud'ul-hal`and inspectors who investigated the position of witnesses in order to decide on to be half of non moslems. The poeople are dependet upon to their usage and customs. There fore most of the places'names and word are kept naturally. Althaugh laws parmit forpoligamy it is understood that people prefered monogamy much.307 İn order to get benefit well from the studies, for given in for mation abaut dictionary and the writing of the volume four photo-copies of the document are given in the additions.
